FJP Leader Beltagy: Political Elite Remain Silent on Violence Against Muslim Brotherhood

In a statement, Dr. Mohamed Beltagy, leading member of the Freedom and Justice Party (FJP), criticized Monday the failure of security apparatus and the Ministry of Interior to protect Muslim Brotherhood headquarters in the provinces and its main office in Cairo's Mokattam district, denouncing political actors and human rights organizations’ silence on the blatant crimes.
"After the burning of Muslim Brotherhood headquarters in several provinces, today (Monday) came the attack on its main office by thugs with all kinds of bombs, Molotov cocktails, rifles and guns, amid almost total silence by political forces and human rights organizations, and amid complete police inability or unwillingness to prevent these attacks.
"The issue is not about stone buildings or symbolic values of the Brotherhood’s main office. Indeed, it’s first and foremost about the casualties, the wounded, amid shameless claims of peaceful protests on the one hand, and the exposure of criminal roles by the counter-revolution, on the other."
Dr. Beltagy added, "Some still lay the blame on the Muslim Brotherhood, saying: Why are they still at their headquarters? Why do they defend it? And why do they bleed when they are shot with live bullets by hired thugs and criminals?"!
