In a press statement Monday, Anas Al-Qadi, spokesman for the Muslim Brotherhood in Alexandria, denounced the violent events, vandalism and riots of the past two days, which took place outside the court complex following judges decision to recuse themselves from the case.

Al-Qadi said, “The Brotherhood demanded, and still demand, the full rights of those who died and those who were injured in the days of the revolution. Justice must be achieved, and retribution must be meted without delay. This is one of the central demands of the January 25 revolution.

The legal team representing the families of revolution martyrs comprises a large number of Brotherhood lawyers determined to exact fair and swift retribution on those who killed and maimed unarmed revolutionaries.

Al-Qadi further added, “It is absurd that anyone should sabotage the legitimacy of the demands and undermine peaceful demonstrations, using violence and spreading chaos and terror among citizens”.

Al-Qadi stressed that the Brotherhood certainly rejects any attack on public or private property, and condemns the burning of cars and blocking of roads.

He also denounced the storming of the Court of First Instance in Alexandria and the torching of a number of offices on the ground floor of its building.
