Third Phase of Parliamentary Elections Kicks off with 136 FJP Candidates

Egypt will witness the third and last phase of the parliamentary elections Tuesday with 14.3 million eligible voters to cast their votes across nine governorates. Voters will choose their parliamentary representatives in Qalyoubia, Gharbeya, Daqahleya, Minia, Qena, North Sinai, South Sinai, Wady el Gedeed, Matrouh on Tuesday and Wednesday and runoffs are scheduled to take place January 10 and 11.
The total number of 2746 candidates will be competing for 150 seats; 100 on the electoral list and 50 for the individual seats.
136 candidates from the Freedom and Justice Party (FJP) will participate in the race, with 100 on the electoral list and 36 on the individual list.
Taking part topping the electoral list is FJP's Secretary General Dr. Saad Katatny in his hometown in Minia. Dr. Mohamed Beltagy Secretary General for the FJP in Cairo will also top the list in the 2nd district in Qalyoubia.
Dr. Ahmed Diab, FJP Secretary General in Qalubeya will be running for the individual seat in the governorate's third district, while Eng. Saad Husseini will top the electoral list in Gharbeya.
The FJP took the lead in the first and second phases of the elections followed by the Nour Party, the Wafd, the Kotla Masreya and Wasat Parties.
Once the elections are over the total number of elected parliamentarians should be 498. SCAF will appoint 10 additional members.
