GAZA, Senior Hamas official Salah Al-Bardawil hailed the latest remarks made by Fatah official Azzam Al-Ahmed on the national reconciliation as positive, hoping that Fatah has a real will this time to end the inter-Palestinian division.

"Regardless of Fatah contradicting remarks, all that concerns us in Hamas that Fatah has a real determination and desire to end the division," Bardawil said in a press release on Tuesday.

"We hope that Al-Ahmed's remarks could pave the way for a meeting in which there is a degree of responsibility and transparency, and a sense of the constant danger that threatens the Palestinian cause in light of the Zionist measures and criminal thoughts that are intended for Judaizing everything on the Palestinian land," the Hamas official added.

Al-Ahmed expected in a televised statement that the national reconciliation would be achieved within two weeks and that his Movement is serious to send its delegation to Damascus to sign the understandings reached with Hamas in this regard.

De facto president Mahmoud Abbas, for his part, called for moving the meeting place from Damascus to another country.

In a related context, the Palestinian resistance factions in Gaza called for creating the climate for the success of the Palestinian reconciliation talks in order to achieve the national reconciliation soon.

This came in a meeting attended by Hamas, Fatah, the popular front, the democratic front, Islamic Jihad and other Palestinian factions and held to discuss the latest developments regarding the reconciliation issue.

The factions called in a joint statement for finding "national" solutions to the contentious issues away from any political or organizational considerations.
