A signed petition by 23 Muslim Brotherhood MPs was submitted to the Parliament’s Speaker Dr Fathi Sorour, demanding the discussion of files concerning the Ministers’ violations and abuse of authority in making profits and wasting public funds

The files included information regarding one of the ministers' purchase of an island in Aswan and the construction of restaurants describing it as a grave violation of the law. The island is worth 80 million pounds however only four million was paid. President Mubarak intervened to stop the selling of the island

In another incident, The Egyptian Kuwaiti Company bought lands and sold it for extremely high prices in the stock exchange

Alnasr City for housing and Constructions also sold lands at high prices.

Two current ministers attempted to purchase lands in Tahrir at   low prices; however the public opinions' outrage at the company prompted them to cancel all contracts. However the land was ultimately sold and at low prices
