The Criminal Court in Cairo decided to overrule the appeal by the Interior ministry to challenge the numerous court releases issued by the judiciary on various occasions.
The release order was issued to Dr Ossama Nasr and 12 other members of the Muslim Brotherhood movement who were merged to case no. 404 0f 2009 which is renowned in the media as "The global networking case". The judiciary ruled that the MB members who were charged with a host of fabricated accusations including money laundering were innocent since there was lack of evidence to deem the group guilty.
Abdul Monem Abdul Maqsoud the brotherhood's lawyer expects that the case will be officially closed in the near future emphasizing that once again the State Security have failed to charge innocent members of society. Only 5 members of the movement remain of the original 32 arrested detainees after the release was issued for the 12.
Dr Abdul Monem Abul Fotouh Secretary of the Arab Doctors Union and executive member of the bureau is among the remaining 5 and is expected to appear for hearing in the near future.
In a related issue Prosecutors decided on extending the detention 15 days of 5 other members from Cairo pending investigation including Dr Mohyee Zayet and Dr Mohamed Hesham who were arrested with Sayed Nazeely. Nazeely was acquitted and released earlier this week.
