The UN is to hold a separate investigation into the Israeli occupation forces" shelling of its buildings during the IOF war on the Gaza Strip.

John Holmes, the assistance UN secretary general for humanitarian affairs, said on Monday that the UN was waiting for the result of the Israeli investigation into shelling the UNRWA warehouses and an UNRWA-run school, but underlined that the international organization would hold a separate investigation into the incident.

He expressed conviction that the issue would end up with raising the question of compensations.

For her part, Karin Abu Zaid, the UNRWA commissioner, said that her agency estimated the losses of its warehouses over a period of 8 years of Israeli attacks at one million dollars.

"We asked Israel to pay compensations but we did not receive anything," she said, adding that her agency would ask for more compensations after the latest attacks as the losses were greater.

Abu Zaid said that six Israeli drones used to fly over Gaza on daily basis during the three weeks war, which allowed the Israelis to see everything and to know everything.

The commissioner said that the Israelis said that "mistakes happened", but when the UNRWA premises is shelled for a few hours that would be more than a mistake and that is why "We should make our own investigation".

Hundreds of tons of UNRWA humanitarian aid were burnt in the Israeli shelling of the warehouses.
