Chancellor Mahmoud Al Khudairi a forerunner of Egyptian judicial independence movement and Vice-President of the Court of Cassation said in statements to Ikhwanweb that the next Judges Club elections, scheduled to be next February 13, will represent a decisive battle for the independence of the judiciary as the government is trying to weaken the role of the club.

"The judicial independence movement will run Egypt Judges Club"s elections with one list that will be disclosed after closing the door for nomination," Al Khudairi stated revealing that they will be nominated to the seat of the chairman of the board of directors of the club, and to the other14 seats.

He pointed out that the elections will be conducted in the scheduled time, as the current mandate of the club"s board of directors is over (three years for each board of directors).

The judicial independence movement has emphasized the fact that Chancellor Zakaria Abdul Aziz (the current Chairman of Egypt judges Club) will not stand for elections, and that Chancellor Hisham Geneina (the current secretary-general of the Judges Club) will be nominated to the seat of the chairman on the independence movement"s list.

The door was opened Saturday to receive nomination papers to the board of directors of Egypt Judges Club whose seats are 15, and this will last till next December 18.
