The Syrian Human Rights Committee (SHRC) prepared a petition that it will send to the United Nations and international human rights organizations, demanding the Syrian authorities to immediately release the detainees of Damascus Declaration who were detained earlier this month.
Syrian authorities launched a sweep of arrest that included more than 40 activists and members of the National Council of the Damascus Declaration against the backdrop of the expanded conference that the council held earlier this month and was ended with electing a new leadership for the Declaration .
Most detainees were released except for the National Council chief Fida’a al-Horani, Ahmad To’mah and Akram al-Bunni (the council"s secretaries), Yaser al-Itee and Ali al-Abdullah (members of the General Secretariat of the Declaration) and Jabr al-Shoofi and Walid al-Bunni.
