Islamic Group in Lebanon: Fatah Islam Related to Foreign Agendas

The Islamic Group in Lebanon denied having any relation between it and Fatah Al-Islam, confirming that there are huge and radical differences between them.

The Islamic Group”s political office chief pointed out that the group presented, along with some other parties, an initiative for solving the crisis but it the only solution for this crisis seems to be a military solution.

Ali Ammar, the political office chief, told Ikhwanweb :

The Fatah Al-Islam entered Lebanon through some ideas and illusions related to the fact that Lebanon is a battlefield with the Israel. Some youth came from outside and inside Lebanon to get involved this confrontation. However, there are some who are laying down schemes to make these youth initiate some internal clashes with the army and security forces. Add to this a number of crimes and explosions that happened in Lebanon in the last period.

Ammar added:” We, the Islamic Group, reject that any Islamic group or any other group confront the Lebanese security forces or carry out explosions that damage the Lebanese infrastructure and civilians. There is relation between the Islamic Group and Fatah Al-Islam because there is a huge difference in viewpoints between us and this group that accepted to be a tool in the hands of some services. These services made them commit a number of crimes and confrontations against the international forces and the infrastructure in Lebanon .

As for the current crisis in Lebanon, Ammar said:” The Islamic Group along with the Lebanese authorities and government tried to forge an imitative to end the current fight at Nahr Al-Bared camp. It includes dissolving Fatah Al-Islam and arresting those who committed crimes against the army and security forces. However, the exacerbation of the fight in the camp prevented the group and other Islamic powers from turning these ideas into facts on the ground. The military option seems to be the only available solution specially while the army has started to penetrate deeply inside the camp to force Fatah Al-Islam elements to surrender and be brought to justice.
