434 Polling Stations are Closed Over

At 12 am on the polling day, the security forces sealed off 435 polling centers across five governorates; 164 in el-Sharqia, 180 in Kafr el-Sheikh, 11 in Sohag, five in el-Daqhlia, and 74 in Dametta.

Intimidation of voters by thugs and violence is the most remarkable feature in the Muslim Brotherhood’s strongholds.

In el-Sharqia governorate, 212 of Brotherhood’s supporters were attacked by thugs and policemen because they persist to give ballots. Thugs use Molotov cocktail to disperse voters.

In Dametta province, severe clashes erupted between the barred voters, who threw stones, and the security forces, who lobbed tear bombs. The result was dozens of bad injuries.

In the polls of el-Gomrok School, the situation is inflaming. The police open fire on voters while residents block Dametta Bridge. Meanwhile, monitoring judges in vain exerted their best to allow the turnout to give vote.

In el-Khaita constituency, 19 out of 8.000 eligible voters managed to cast their ballots. Furious confrontations between police and enraged voters left a number of wounded people.
