Upon its success in the parliamentary elections, the Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas, called on the peace-sponsored Quatrain Committee to engage into a non-preconditioned dialogue and to keep on offering funds to the Palestinians.

In its statement, Hamas urged the Committee, which includes the U.S., the U.N., the E.U. and Russia, ’to initiate non-preconditioned talks.’

’The European Union should understand the current priorities of the Palestinians. It, in addition, should continue its material and spiritual support to help dragging the entire region to stability rather than to intension,’ the statement said.

’These funds will be directed to the Palestinian Financial Ministry to pay salaries and to fund the infrastructure,’ the account added.

Hamas’ call coincides with escalating international threats to suspend financial aids to the Palestinian Authority, if Hamas comes in office.

On Monday, the E.U. foreign ministers discuss, in Brussels, the European threats to discontinue aids, if Hamas refused to recognize Israel. In London, the same subject tops the agenda of the Quatrain Committee’s meeting, on Monday.

On Sunday, the German Chancellor made the latest threat during her visit to Israel when said:’ the E.U. will not be able to fund the Palestinian Authority, if Hamas comes to power without renouncing violence and recognizing Israel.’

In parallel, the American Secretary of State, Condoleezza Rice, stated, in London, she thinks the U.N., the E.U., Russia and other peace-concerned parties see eye to eye in this regard. Aids should not go to Hamas or other movements that call for the devastation of Israel.
