MB Sues Justice Ministry Officials on Extension of Detention

In an exclusive statement to Ikhwanweb, Muslim Brotherhood’s lawyer Abdul Monem Abdul Maksoud said that he lodged a legal action before the Administrative Judiciary Court against the Minister of Justice, the Attorney General and the Senior Public Prosecutor to empower the MB detainees including Dr. Essam Al-Eryan, Dr. Mohamed Morsy and others to appeal against the court ruling which extended their detention for anther 15 days in what the authorities call the MB Politburo Case. In his challenge which the court will hear within days, Abdul Maksoud said that Eryan, Morsi and others were interrogated on July 17, 2006 and received a 15 – day internment. He said also that the MB detainees submitted a request to appeal, and the fourteenth of August was set by a bench to hear their appeal but the Cairo Criminal Court withheld the appeal and upheld another renewable 15- day internment instead. The detainees filed a complaint earlier this month but in vain, which prompted them to take this legal action citing the unconstitutionality and illegality of the internment ruling.
