Muslim Brotherhood: Commitment to January 2011 Revolution Will Defeat Military Coup Regime

Dr Talaat Fahmi, Muslim Brotherhood media spokesman, said the military regime in Egypt is now ruling over the people with an iron fist because it has become a matter of life or death for the junta, since it is responsible for the spilling of so much innocent blood. Dr Fahmi asked, "Since they spilled the blood of so many innocent  Egyptians, how can they imagine for a moment that they will go unpunished?"

In a telephone interview with a satellite TV show Tuesday, marking the 1000th day since the violent coup massacres in Rabaa and Nahda squares, Dr Fahmi said the way to break the traitorous coup is for the Egyptian people to rally for freedom and dignity, and to refuse to lay to waste the democratic gains of the January 25 (2011) Revolution. Dr Fahmi said that the non-violent resistance movement is now visible in all public squares across Egypt, with revolutionary companions and opponents gathering all together and closing ranks for a single goal: to overthrow the treasonous coup regime.

Dr Fahmi also praised the legendary steadfastness of the men and women of the Revolution on the ground, and – behind them – the forbearance and fortitude of the detainees and of the steadfast President Mohamed Morsi; and stressed that revolutionary resilience is already breaking the military coup.

Dr Fahmi said the Muslim Brotherhood is committed to wresting the rights of all martyrs of the nation killed by coup forces. He assured that the Egyptian people’s Revolution will not be crushed, that the democratic process will be reinstated, and the rights of martyrs and the wounded will be reclaimed.
