Interior Ministry Militias Murder Freedom and Justice Young Leader After Arrest

The military coup regime’s Interior Ministry murdered Dr. Megahed Hassan Zaki, young leader with the Freedom and Justice Party (the Muslim Brotherhood’s political wing) in Beni Suef, three days after arresting him from his apartment in Cairo.

Dr. Zaki was a 30-year old father of two children; a doctor who worked at a pharmaceutical company.

Dr. Zaki’s family affirmed he was arrested on Monday (September 7). Then, they received a phone call Wednesday from the morgue at Samasta Central Hospital telling them their son died of gunshot wounds in the chest and back.

The coup’s prosecution service ordered Dr. Zaki’s body to be buried, in spite of the family’s refusal to sign the death certificate – which falsely stated ‘Suicide’ as the cause of death – with five bullets in the abdomen and back. Medical sources further confirmed that Dr. Zaki was killed with live bullets two days ago.
