Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood Abroad Condemns Violence, Junta Practices in Egypt

After two years of bloody military coup against the democratically elected government – through fair elections as recognized and reaffirmed by the coup commander himself in several international forums, Egypt still suffers one failure after another, one setback after another. Now, its very future is in grave danger.

Instead of the security and stability promised by the coup commander, Egypt is being pushed with increasing speed to the fate of a failed state after topping the list of the most fragile states.

Immediately after the killing of the public prosecutor – a horrid crime no doubt, the ruling military regime – without investigations, and in a clear political score-settling campaign, rushed to accuse the Muslim Brotherhood despite the group's unambiguous strong condemnation of the killing in its statement yesterday.

Immediately after the incident, the military-appointed regime (through its State Information Service) released a statement distributed to foreign ministries and embassies as well as international media agencies in a clearly organized campaign to condemn and discredit the Egyptian Revolution and the Muslim Brotherhood.

The coup regime's absurd practices and its accusation of the Muslim Brotherhood without investigation, as happened many times before, prepare for more junta repression and violations of freedoms. These are typical practices of military rule by a junta that trampled popular will, toppled the elected government, killed thousands of innocent people, imprisoned tens of thousands of Egypt's finest young men and women, and failed to achieve security or provide the most basic necessities of life, including freedom and human dignity.

We have repeatedly stressed and already showed in practice our faith in democracy. Now, can those who killed, arrested, humiliated, displaced, raped, tortured and publicly terrorized Egyptian men and women accuse us of terrorism?

They failed to come to power through fair elections, so they did atop tanks, and today they do not want to leave – except over the bodies of thousands of more innocent people.

The question remains: Who is responsible for the current state of affairs?

They are known, and their address is also known to all... atop the tanks at the Itehadia presidential palace.
