Muslim Brotherhood media spokesman Mohamed Montaser celebrated the 87th anniversary of the group, which was founded by Imam Hassan Al-Banna on March 22, 1928 – by launching the Hashtag #87_سنة_إخوان (which means: 87 Years of Brotherhood) on his official Twitter account.

Through this Hashtag, Montaser underscored the group's contribution and vital role in various local, regional and international issues and crises over the years.

The Brotherhood's spokesman said: "Eighty-seven years have passed since the Muslim Brotherhood was founded.  Eighty-seven years in which it has given so much to the Muslim world and the Islamic Movement, and will continue to do so".

Montaser further said that the group taught and spread virtue in Egyptian society since the twenties of the last century.
