Freedom and Justice Party Spokesman: Disbanding Decision Intensely Politicized

Samir Wassimi, Freedom and Justice Party (FJP) media spokesman, denounced the decision to dissolve the FJP as a highly politicized one, issued by an illegitimate authority.

"The disbanding decision is not in the least surprising, because this homeland is now going through a stage where all revolutionary groups struggling peacefully against the corruption of the coup and the junta are being excluded, pushed away from public life. This heavily politicized ruling will only strengthen our determination to continue the revolutionary struggle for freedom of this homeland and the rights of all Egyptians.

"The FJP will not hesitate to take all legal measures to safeguard its rights and future, especially since it took into account all legal requirements when it was first founded. This is the largest political party in Egypt. It won every election it fought, and resonates perfectly with the will of the people, from whom it derives legitimacy, not from the corrupt murderous junta."

Earlier on Saturday, the Council of State’s Supreme Administrative Court ruled to accept the request of the Political Parties Affairs Committee to dissolve the FJP and seize all its assets.
