Muslim Brotherhood Congratulates Turkish People for Bolstering Freedom, Democracy

The Muslim Brotherhood issued the following statement after the results of the municipal elections in Turkey were announced:

The Muslim Brotherhood congratulates the Turkish people for the freedom and democracy they nurture, as shown in the recent municipal elections characterized by integrity and transparency. It further congratulates the Turkish people for bidding farewell forever – God willing – to military coups that caused bloodshed and spread corruption and despotism, which at the time kept Turkey in the ranks of underdeveloped countries, until the Justice and Development Party (AKP) was elected into office and achieved great progress for Turkey in all areas, so it now is the seventeenth largest economy in the world.

So it was only natural that the AKP wins these latest elections, despite the conspiracies woven against it by domestic and regional powers, supported by hostile media (including Egyptian military-controlled media) that loathe the AKP and its leader.

Therefore, we the Muslim Brotherhood and all the free people of the world extend our sincere congratulations to the AKP and its leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan for this great victory, and wish him continued success in the leadership of Turkey, on the path of democratic progress and prosperity.

We also hail the patriotic Egyptian people’s commitment to non-violence, and exhort them to remain committed to the peaceful Revolution – for freedom, dignity and social justice. We urge them also to demand their right to civilian life in a modern democracy, so they can eliminate corruption and tyranny and overthrow the murderous military junta, and set Egypt free from the yoke of underdevelopment and poverty, so it can tread the path of progress and catch up with developed countries.

Indeed… "God has full control of all affairs, but most people do not know."

The Muslim Brotherhood
