Steadfast President… Free People
Steadfast President… Free People
Perceived as a crude attempt to break the will of the people and their dream of freedom and justice, the President’s sham trial is condemned by Egyptians.

On November 2, 2013, Egypt’s Anti-Coup Pro-Legitimacy National Alliance issued the following statement:

In the lives of nations, there are decisive moments in which their short-term as well as long-term futures are defined. Our country is passing through such a moment, and the people are rising to defend their freedoms and their place among nations.

Wresting freedom back from the corrupt regime that strikes its roots deep into all state institutions, and building a country of justice and freedom requires a long struggle and major sacrifices. Thus a long nonviolent struggle is what we are determined to do, until we build our new modern Egypt of law and order, of democracy. An Egypt of freedom, dignity and justice.

The January 2011 Revolution was the first of our steps on the path to realizing the dream. But corrupt commanders, officials and supporters were determined to drag us back to their kingdom of corruption. They thought that with their fateful coup they would break our will and destroy our dream. But we, the revolutionaries, vow to defend and realize the dream no matter how long it takes and whatever the sacrifices we have to make.

The ridiculous, absurd trial convened by the coup organizers and supporters Monday (November 4) is a savage attempt to break our will and sabotage our motivation that has astounded everyone. They seek to break the will of the steadfast President who was wronged by everyone and betrayed by the corrupt enemies of the Revolution.

We do not recognize this false, illegitimate trial of the legitimate, elected President. It is completely void. The 2012 Constitution [Article 152] provides the mechanism for trying the President through the House of Representatives. The coup masterminds have ignored the fact that Dr. Mohamed Morsi remains until now the legitimate President, and forgot they were not able to deal with Mubarak except in a legally correct manner. We remind them of what was published in the official government gazette on February 12, 2011.

This false trial is a flagrant violation of due process, law and traditions. More surprising is the scandalous performance of the judiciary, which has become a pawn in the hands of the murderous military, to be placed wherever the generals wish, and to be used in a political struggle aiming to eliminate freedoms and the law.

This shame will be recorded in history forever. Current and future generations will remember these crimes committed by the judiciary in support of the traitorous coup, throwing aside the law, the Constitution and popular will.

The Anti-Coup Pro-Legitimacy National Alliance calls on all Egyptians to mass at the venue of the absurd trial of the abducted legitimate elected President Mohamed Morsi – the Police Academy at Torah – in defense of the will and freedom of the people, in the morning of Monday November 4, 2013.

Let the whole world know there are free patriotic people in Egypt, dreaming of freedom, sacrificing everything dear for it, believing that freedom is more precious than life, and that our peacefulness is stronger than their bullets.

Let the putschists, who are terrified of the revolutionaries, know that they will never break our will, and will not resurrect a state of oppression and corruption. We challenge them to broadcast, live, their absurd trial. They know what the steadfast President, Dr. Mohamed Morsi, will do to them.
