Freedom and Justice Party: Judges Must Purge Judiciary Themselves

Dr. Murad Ali, Freedom and Justice Party (FJP) media adviser, said: "Egypt’s judges must reform the judicial authority themselves. A few of them have question marks over their heads, suspicions of corruption or passing politicized sentences in favor of the counter-revolution. These few are determined to complete ousted Mubarak’s march of corruption, dragging all judges into untold troubles.

"We look forward to an updated, amended draft law on judicial authority to be submitted by top judges through the upcoming Justice Conference. They should be aware that the Egyptian people as a whole suffer from the defective current justice system. This is the judges’ chance to participate and achieve one of the people’s main objectives in the January 25 Revolution."

Earlier, in a meeting with the heads of the judicial bodies Sunday, President Mohamed Morsi praised the idea of a justice conference presented by Chairman of the Supreme Judicial Council, and called for an immediate start of preparatory work for the conference, and invited all judicial bodies to meetings at the Presidency, as of Tuesday 30 April, in order to prepare for the justice conference under his own chairmanship.
