Beltagy: Mubarak Must Return to Tora Prison

Dr. Mohamed Beltagy, member of the Freedom and Justice Party (FJP)’s Executive Bureau, said that the health, movements and overall appearance of ousted president Mubarak in court Saturday evidently show that he is well enough to return to Tora prison, not to a costly hospital.

"Having the deposed Mubarak stay in hospital, transferring him by helicopter to court Saturday, seems increasingly like a satirical soap opera. Indeed, it is a crime against the revolution that requires investigation and accountability.

"Some of the security and media arrangements Saturday seemed to treat Mubarak as a former president, rather than a deposed president against whom the long-repressed people erupted in a great revolution in which thousands sacrificed their lives. In baffling back-stage scenes, certain people almost saluted dethroned Mubarak and his interior minister and former aides."

Dr. Beltagy further added, "I believe we must not wait until the ultimate disaster sees Mubarak and Adli acquitted, perhaps exonerated, and revolutionaries brought to a summary trial for the crime of rebelling against the Mubarak regime.

"Alarm bells rang, time after time already. History will condemn us, if we do not act to defend the revolution and the revolutionaries and to honor the blood of the martyrs."
