United Arab Emirates Detains Three Egyptian Doctors Without Charges

Egypt’s Foreign Ministry received a formal complaint from the Egyptian Medical Syndicate, originating from three Egyptian families in the UAE, about the arrest in Dubai and Ajman of three Egyptian doctors without charge, by UAE authorities.

The complaint mentioned that the three doctors (Ali Sonbol, Mohamed Shahda and Abdullah Zaaza) were prevented from returning to Cairo to spend their annual vacations as usual, and that their homes were then raided and their personal computers seized. It further mentioned that the doctors were taken to an unknown destination, and that their families were prevented from leaving the UAE.

Meanwhile, the Egyptian Medical Syndicate’s Liberties Committee sent an official letter to Egypt’s Foreign Minister demanding urgent action to resolve this issue and release the three doctors.
