Saad Al-Husseini, member of the Executive Office of the Freedom and Justice Party (FJP), rejected as untrue statements made by Dr. Saad-Eddin Ibrahim, director of Ibn Khaldun Center for Development Studies, in which Ibrahim alleged that the Muslim Brotherhood coordinated with the U.S. administration before the recent Egyptian presidential elections.

"These statements are unfounded fables fabricated against the Brotherhood and its party, and have no basis of truth."

Husseini stressed that "the Muslim Brotherhood and the FJP have never made any secret of their meetings with any foreign delegations.

"The Brotherhood never sought to win over any foreign players. It never assured anyone of the future of relations after the presidential elections. In fact, the Brotherhood has a clear vision and a solid strategy for its dealings with the West."

Husseini further stressed that the group never made any promises to anyone about what would happen if its candidate Mohamed Morsi, FJP Chairman at the time, won the elections.

"The group's only delegation to the USA comprised three members of the Brotherhood’s Foreign Relations Committee, which participated in a political conference in Washington.

"The delegation did not have any meetings on this or any other topic with U.S. officials."

Earlier, Saad-Eddin Ibrahim alleged that the Brotherhood had sent a 30-strong delegation of its leaders to Washington before the run-off of Egypt’s recent presidential elections, and that they vowed to maintain U.S. interests in Egypt if Morsi won.
