The Muslim Brotherhood Chairman, Mr. Mohamed Mahdi Akef, sent a condolence letter to former Lebanese president, Amin Gemayel, after the assassination of his son, the Lebanese Industry Minister, Pierre Gemayel:

His Excellency, President Amin Gemayel,
We have received, with deep regret, the news of assassinating Mr. Pierre Gemayel, on Tuesday, in Beirut. We condemn this hideous crime and condemn all forms of political violence. We also appreciate your call to the Lebanese people for calm, and rejecting any violent behavior in reaction to the news of the crime.

We call on all the Lebanese powers to adopt dialogue as a method of solving domestic problems, and not to resort to violence. We also reject any foreign interference in Lebanon’s internal affairs, and we are confident that the Lebanese people will be able to overcome this crisis quickly.

May Allah protect Lebanon from any harm.

Mohamed Mahdi Akef
