Dr. Morsi: We Entered Presidential Race to Save the Revolution, Rejuvenate Egypt

Freedom and Justice Party and Muslim Brotherhood presidential nominee Mohamed Morsi affirmed that Egyptian workers are the essence of the Nahda (Renaissance) Project he’s promoting, and hence are responsible for the advancement and revitalization of Egypt.

In a campaign stop on Monday night in Amr ibn El-Aas Square in Cairo, Dr. Morsi assured that he will endeavor to restore Egypt’s dignity and pioneering spirit, and pride for both Muslims and Christians.

Morsi further called on all political players to close ranks and unite under the Egyptian revolution’s goals, asserting Egypt’s great historical status which should be reclaimed after the former regime and its cronies completely destroyed.

Moreover, Dr. Morsi added that the Nahda Project is for all Egyptian political players and citizens, because its ultimate goal is Egypt’s advancement.

Morsi further emphasized that Egyptians had paid a high and precious price to restore their dignity for the revolution to succeed. He added that 20 million people turned out all over Egypt and voted against corruption and oppression and in favor of getting rid of all the subversive holdovers still at work in all State institutions.

Morsi made clear that he is determined to bring culprits to task, holding accountable all those responsible for Egyptian bloodshed stating, "No one, whosoever, can stand in the face of the revolution".

Further, Dr. Morsi added: “We will forge forward in all domains of life and the state’s institutions, establishing strong authorities, each holding their own powers, without overlapping”.

Morsi clarified that he aims to rule Egypt without any discrimination, like Omar ibn Al-Khattab, the leading example of justice and equality.

Morsi added that he is proud of being an Egyptian who aspires to rule with Islamic reference, with his goals set for justice, truth, the nation’s advancement, and providing a decent life for all Egyptians.

Dr. Morsi continued, explaining that Nahda Project stresses the concepts of freedom, loyalty to the homeland and protecting citizens’ rights, because such are God’s Commands. The project also aims at achieving peace among Egyptians who all have equal rights as well as obligations.

Furthermore, Dr. Morsi added that scholars and experts of revitalization and renaissance identified a lot of problems in the Egyptian society, primarily: security, unemployment, poverty, education and transportation, amongst many others.

He also stressed that the project offers practical and evidence-based solutions for all these major problems.

Morsi further prized the role of Egyptian workers who strive for their bread; and promised to give them the status they deserve.

He also emphasized that stability, security, and development were his project’s priorities, adding that Egypt possesses the resources and capabilities qualifying it for a comprehensive development.

Morsi said that the Muslim Brotherhood decided to field a presidential contender so as to apply the Islamic reference and to allow Egypt to advance with its free will, adding that the time has come for pride and dignity to be restored to the people of Egypt.

Dr. Morsi concluded, saying that the MB and their political wing aim to realize the sovereignty of the state and its respect among the nations. He added that “the days of subordination are over, and dawn of independence is onto us. We aim to create balanced international relations. With Islamic reference and the vital energies of the Egyptian people, the country will rise again and advance”.
