Muslim Brotherhood and FJP Views on the Grand Mufti’s visit to Jerusalem under occupation

Muslim Brotherhood and FJP Views on the Grand Mufti’s visit to Jerusalem under occupation

Gomaa Amin denounces Grand Mufti’s visit

The Deputy Chairman of the Muslim Brotherhood Gomaa Amin affirmed that Egypt’s Grand Mufti visit to occupied Jerusalem is unacceptable under any name.

In a statement to Ikhwanweb, Amin said: "This is totally unacceptable, because Jerusalem is under occupation. There is an almost unanimous consensus on banning all visits until Jerusalem is free again".

Further, Amin said: "The Grand Mufti has violated the emotional perspective of Muslims. Pope Shenouda III had emphasized this ban for our Christian brothers and sisters, against visiting Jerusalem under occupation. So, it certainly is unacceptable for the Mufti to visit the Holy City at this time".

Ridha Fahmi: Mufti’s visit a stab in the back

Ridha Fahmi, Chairman of the Committee on Arab Affairs and External Relations of Egyptian parliament’s Shura Council, denounced the visit by Dr. Ali Gomaa, Grand Mufti of Egypt, to Jerusalem under Israeli occupation, saying the visit is a step in the opposite direction of the Arab Spring and its noble peoples.

Fahmi stressed that the consensus of scholars, leaders and thinkers is for a full ban on all visits to Jerusalem under the umbrella of the Zionist occupation.

Further, Fahmi pointed out that Ali Gomaa’s visit to Jerusalem is a dangerous precedent, coming from an Islamic symbol such as the Grand Mufti of Egypt, and a representative of a broad Islamic institution: Al-Azhar.

Moreover, Fahmi said that while Sheikh Ahmed Al-Tayeb, refuses to visit Al-Aqsa Mosque under Israeli occupation, Dr. Ali Gomaa surprises all with this visit which represents a serious affront to the people of Egypt and a stab in the back of the Palestinian people.

Fahmi further asserted that the Committee on Arab Affairs, External Relations and National Security of the Shura Council will discuss the visit at the earliest meeting in an attempt to deal with such gross actions that give legitimacy to the Zionist entity.

Farid Ismail: the Mufti’s Visit to occupied Jerusalem is unacceptable normalization

Dr. Farid Ismail, Deputy of the National Security Committee of the People’s Assembly and member of the parliamentary Commission of the Freedom and Justice Party (FJP) denounced the visit by Dr. Ali Gomaa to occupied Jerusalem.

In a statement to Ikhwanweb, he described the visit as normalization, adding: "We reject normalization under any name, and refuse to visit Jerusalem while it is under Zionist occupation, even if the visit happens to be without visas from the Zionist entity".
