Bahrain: MB Candidates Grab 4 Seats

“Candidates of the Islamic National Al Menbar Society (Bahrain’s chapter of Muslim Brotherhood) have achieved good results in the first round of the parliamentary election”, said Mo’az Al Hassan the head of the Society’s media office.
Al Hassan added, in a statement to Ikhwanweb, that four candidates won the elections while three others will face a second round runoff, pointing out that only one candidate didn’t win in this election.
Concerning the municipal elections, Al Hassan said that the Society has fielded three candidates, of whom two won in the first round while the third will stand for the second round. As for the alliance of the MB- affiliated Al Menbar and the Salafi Asala Society, Al Hassan said that the alliance’s slate won eight parliamentary seats while four are facing a runoff election. He regarded these results as a very good, adding “they show that the Bahraini public opinion backs the moderate trend”.
In the same context, the opposition has achieved a landslide win in the Bahraini parliamentary election, as it has garnered 17 seats according to latest results; al- Wefaq National Islamic Society- led by Sheikh Ali Salman- won 16 seats, in addition to another Wefaq candidate who won as independent, raising to 17 the number of Al Wefaq seats in parliament. The runoff of the parliamentary elections is slated early next week, mainly on Saturday.
