Dr. Ghozlan: Muslim Brotherhood Joins January 25 Celebrations, Protect Egypt’s Institutions, Remind of Revolution Demands

Dr. Mahmoud Ghozlan, media spokesman of the Muslim Brotherhood (MB), underscored what happened in Tahrir Square today, and in other ‘freedom’ squares of Egypt, as confirmation that the Egyptian people live and honor the memory of their popular revolution of last year, which restored for them dignity and sovereignty, and in which they sacrificed a lot of their children who fell, injured and martyrs.

In a statement to Ikhwanweb, Dr. Ghozlan said that the revolution enabled the people to overthrow the corrupt former regime, abolish the State Security apparatus, dismantle local councils and dissolve the National Party, as well as to draw up a road map with a timetable to hand over power to civilians, after successfully completing the first democratic process which built up the first genuinely democratic institution, the People’s Assembly, adding that all the Egyptian people must continue to establish the remaining vital state institutions.

With respect to the MB’s participation in the January 25 celebrations, in Tahrir Square and other ‘liberty’ squares of Egypt, Dr. Ghozlan said: "The Brotherhood took part in the revolution from the beginning, sacrificed scores of martyrs and wounded, and then – with all the noble people of Egypt – defended Egypt’s Revolution and secured the elections. This drives them to take to the ‘squares’ to commemorate the revolution, as well as to remind themselves and all the people, as well as those in power, that the demands of the revolution are as yet unmet, and must be fulfilled as soon as possible."

Dr. Ghozlan stressed that MB youths, in the governorates all around Egypt, participated in securing the state’s vital facilities and institutions, in the interests of safety of the homeland and for fear of acts of sabotage or violence.
