Freedom and Justice Party's (FJP), Secretary General Dr. Saad Katatny, has issued a press statement stating that the party is anxiously monitoring remnants from the former regime as they submit their registration for candidacy in the upcoming parliamentary and Shura elections. This comes as SCAF remains slow to issue a law to politically isolate remnants from the former regime, indicating that it is failing to demonstrate impartiality. This contradicts with SCAF's vow to take the side of the revolution and the people.

"The tardiness contradicts the SCAFS commitment to the revolutions objectives," he said. It is on this note that the FJP calls on the SCAF to put the interests of Egypt and its people above all else, and to counter entities who have corrupted the political landscape.

"We urge SCAF to reassess its stance towards the revolution and to work towards protecting it, by issuing a law to politically isolate remnants from the former regime as soon as possible in addition to exposing those who spoilt politics in Egypt. This will guarantee that these elements are banned from participating in the upcoming parliamentary elections."

Furthermore, Katatny added, "We call on SCAF to eliminate the emergency law which it repeatedly promised it would annul before the parliamentary elections would take place."

"During this crucial phase, Egypt is in dire need for a decisive and firm standpoint by the military to restore the nation's trust and stability. Remaining neutral fails to serve Egypt's best interest and protecting the revolution calls for favoring Egypt, its people and their choices  above all else," he stressed.
