FJP: US Veto of Palestinian State Will Further Harm US-Muslims Relations

The Freedom and Justice Party (FJP) released a statement on Thursday dismissing a move by the  Palestinian Authority to seek UN recognition of an indepedent Palestinian state, which the party believes will not be the solution for the Arab-Israeli conflict, nor even the begining of a solution.

However, the FJP criticized the US stance towards the Palestinians’ bid pressuring them to drop their UN bid and threatening to use its veto power to block it as a continuation of biased US policies, which favor Israel and disregard the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.

"The US continues to make the same mistakes with its unconditional support of Israel’s occupation while turning a blind eye to its crimes against Arabs and Muslims. It [the US] has failed to build a relationship based on mutual respect with the Muslim world".

It added, "The US continues to believe that its support to Israel will protect its interests in the region. However, it must understand that this approach is a serious policy mistake. The US risks putting itself in a confrontational position with the Arab people who are now the sole source of power after the eruption of Arab Revolutions."
