Leading members of the Muslim Brotherhood, Freedom and Justice Party, politicians and civil society leaders joined in massive funeral processions in Assuit and Helwan Saturday for two security personnel killed on the Egyptian border by Israelis last Thursday.

The ambush left Egyptians enraged and calling on authorities to take an appropriate stance that reflects a significant change in Egypt's foreign policy after the January 25 Revolution.

"Egyptians are tired of the unacceptable offenses routinely carried out by Israel against Egypt and the rest of the region," FJP leader  Almohamady Abdul Maqsoud said in a speech before the funeral. "The passiveness and weakness of the former regime towards such incidents must be dropped and a pro-active stance against the perpetrators must be taken," he added.

Thousands of angry people in Assuit joined the funeral of Ahmed Galal Abdul Qader calling for justice to be done and chanting slogans including “Egyptians blood is not cheap” and “Down with Israel”.

Similar anger was demonstrated in Helwan during the funeral of Taha Mohamed Ibrahim Abdul Qader as protestors demanded authorities respond.

FJP leader Almohamady Abdul Maqsoud attended the funeral in Helwan along with former MP Mustafa Bakry, and Chief of Security Mohsen Murad. Hundreds of soldiers organized the official ceremony.
