Commenting on Friday’s  demonstration billed the 'Friday of Final Warning,' Freedom and Justice Party (FJP) leader Dr. Essam El-Erian stated that while he understood the people’s frustration, the authorities must be given time to respond to demands made at July 8 rally before raising the bar. He stressed, however, that such demands as the speedy trial of the ousted Mubarak, his allies and those responsible for inciting the killing of protesters during the revolution, must be fulfilled immediately.

In an interview with Nile News Channel, El-Erian highlighted that Egypt is going through a transition and is beginning to experience democracy as witnessed during the referendum held in March. He added that the country is currently undergoing a critical period that requires protecting the economy and security from manipulation in order to overcome the current crisis and respond to the legitimate demands of different sectors of society.

He explained that the FJP chose not to participate in July 15 protest; however, the group did not call for it to be boycotted. He stressed that just as it is a right to participate, likewise it is a right to choose not to, and no individual is entitled to judge a person or group’s decision; "after all, this is what freedom of speech is all about. This is democracy," he said.
