Dr.Morsy: MB Committed to Peaceful Reform, Its Stance on Citizenship Very Clear

Dr. Mohamed Morsy, a member of the Muslim Brotherhood’s Executive Bureau and the group’s media spokesman, stressed that the Muslim Brotherhood’s future is dependent in all walks of life of the Egyptian people through a comprehensive political, societal and missionary activities..

In a phone call with TV show 48 Hours, the Arabic version on El Mehwar TV, he stressed the group’s adherence to peaceful reform in order to establish a fair government that can salvage the country from its gloomy fate, noting that the group’s stances and activities are in line with its peaceful approach..

He noted that the group’s legality is clear and proven by many judicial rulings issued in their favor, most recently when former third MB leader Omar Al-Telmesani filed a lawsuit against the group’s disbanding, and the court decided not to dissolve the Brotherhood..

"The group is not alone in its desire for reform, and leading to changes among the political forces aimed at reforming deteriorating conditions," he noted, stressing that the group is an integral part of the fabric of Egyptian society designed to meet their demands for the desired political reform..

Morsy refuses attempts of curtailing MB attitudes out of its context and accusing them of fabricated charges, refuting allegations that the Brotherhood has become isolated because the Brothers fielded candidates in both local and parliament elections nationwide..

The Brotherhood’s stances are positive with regard to citizenship, pointing out that talking about Christian Copts and women assuming presidency has been previously answered based on advisory legal opinion and people should take a decision as a source of authority..

He also explained that the allegations by some that the current People’s Assembly whose members were elected through free and fair elections is not genuine, due to many courts issuing final decisions invaliding balloting in many districts, i.e. it is rigged and did not reflect the people’s will.
