Abass’s health deteriorated following the unjust measures practiced against her husband and sons.

The SHRC calls on whomever it may concern in Syria for the release of Mr Ali al-Abdullah who was abducted from his home in the city of Qatna on the outskirts of Damascus on Sunday, 15 May, 2005. He was taken to an unknown destination afteron the backdrop of rea reading a written statement by the MB offshoot in Syria. The statement was comprised of basic guidelines and general principles regarding the MB’s vision of the national work in Syria, and although it was received positively by representatives of all groups participating in the gathering, the ruling Ba’th Party did not take it well.

The committee also urges Syrian authorities to release the son, Omar, in consideration of their humanitarian situation.
