Egyptian Activists Call for Protests against Targeting Unity of the Egyptian People
Egyptian political activists from a campaign supporting Sabahi's presidential candidacy for the 2011 presidential elections, staged a protest on Saturday, January 1, 2011 at 7:00 pm in Shubra, Cairo to emphasize the unity of the social and cultural fabric of Egyptian society against all forms of terrorism.

 Egyptian political activists from a campaign supporting Sabahi's presidential candidacy for the 2011 presidential elections, staged a protest on Saturday, January 1, 2011 at 7:00 pm in Shubra, Cairo to emphasize the unity of the social and cultural fabric of Egyptian society against all forms of terrorism.
 
In a statement to Al-Karama and political activists, they said: "Let us, together as Egyptians, be keen on maintaining the strength and unity of the national fabric of our country and demonstrate that there is no discrimination between the country's Muslims and Christians as they both live in one homeland, under one flag and are governed by the principle of citizenship. The ruling party continuing in power is more threatening for everyone and the fraternity that prevails among us." The statement added that sectarian strife exists because of systems struggling to survive, in accordance with the Roman military principle ‘Divide and Rule’.
