Qaradawi Denounces Decree Calling for Boycott of “United Nations"
President of the International Association of Muslim Scholars, Dr. Yusuf al-Qaradawi, opposed the call by Sheik Mubaraki from Saudi Arabia to boycott the United Nations.

During the weekly Al-Jazeera program “Sharia and Life” Qaradawi argued that it was necessary for Muslims to interact and adapt to the current age of globalization and to modernize Islamic-oriented nations.

He asserted that it was necessary that there be open dialogue with the UN since boycotting the organization would marginalize any Muslim institution which would otherwise be effective in promoting peace and dialogue with both the Muslim world and the West.

Qaradawi stressed that such edicts and opinions fuelled violence and animosity that contradict the teachings of Islam and its history which witnessed the successful opening of many countries without wars, battles or bloodshed.

He ended his statement emphasizing the significance of establishing modern Islamic discourse
