Al-Beltagy to Al-Alam: I Urge President Mubarak to Intervene For Re-elections

Dr. Mohamed Al-Beltagy, assistant secretary general of the former Muslim Brotherhood (MB) parliamentary bloc, called on President Mubarak to intervene with a presidential decree to hold re-elections after the heinous violations and frauds it included.

In an interview with Al-Alam TV channel. Dr. Al-Beltagy warned against not containing and fixing the problem of rigging elections would make the legitimacy of the presidency questioned, especially as the President will be giving the Oath in front of a parliament which its legitimacy is questioned.

Dr. Al-Beltagy pointed out that the election in Egypt with its blatant fraud was ridiculous and witnessed by the whole world.
On the news of the government allowing opposition figures to win, Dr. Al-Beltagy said: “The NDP was in a big trouble and had to include figures from the opposition in order not to compete against itself.” He affirmed that the upcoming parliament is void legally, politically and popularly, pointing out that the parliamentary election is not yet over. The legitimacy of the parliament is questionable as the government does not implement judicial provisions.
