The Supreme Administrative Court of Egypt led by Judge Adel Azab accepted the lawsuit lodged by Mahmoud Hamed Diab Kandil against Minister of State for Legal and Parliamentary Affairs, Mufid Shehab, in which he opposes his nomination for the coming parliamentary elections.

In his petition, No. 2692 for the year 1965, Kandil emphasized that Mufid Shihab served as Minister of Legal Affairs, and his primary responsibility should be to monitor the government's performance because he is the people's representative.

The lawsuit filed against Shehab's nomination was not the first of its kind, where the independent candidate, Abdel Moneim Tamraz, a rival of Mufid Shehab in Muharram Bek constituency, made a complaint to the chairman of the Higher Election Commission in which he outlined 11 violations that should be removed from the list and endorsed by the HEC besides another appeal made by the eliminated candidate, Ahmed Iraqi Nassar, to the head of Alexandria's primary court.
