El-Erian: MB Will Not Unilaterally Declare Its Political Party

Dr. Essam el-Erian, prominent leader of the MB in Egypt, denied speculations the Muslim Brotherhood is forming a political party saying that the Egyptian government through the notorious Political Parties Committee and the Parties Court will never license a party for the Muslim Brotherhood “The current atmosphere in Egypt makes it impossible for the Muslim Brotherhood to have its own political party” el-Erian stated.

El Erian also added that the Muslim Brotherhood considers the current laws that prevent it from forming its own political party “unjust”, but emphasized that the group will respect the Law and will not challenge the regime and unilaterally declares its own political party.

El Erian announced that the Muslim Brotherhood is consulting with intellectuals and political elite in Egypt to form a viable political agenda that will serve as a backbone for a comprehensive program which will be adopted by the Muslim Brotherhood in the upcoming weeks to achieve reform and change.

El-Erian comments came during an online live dialogue with the public organized by Islamonline.net which will be posted in its entirety by Ikhwanweb as soon as it becomes available.
