BBC writes that a campaign promoting Egypt 's 75 year old chief of intelligence, General Omar Suleiman, as a candidate for future president has been banned.

 BBC writes that a campaign promoting Egypt 's 75 year old chief of intelligence, General Omar Suleiman, as a candidate for future president has been banned.

 
"The BBC has learned that thousands of copies of two of the most popular independent dailies, Al Masry Al Youm and Al Dustoor, have been destroyed.
No publication carried the news in their Friday morning editions".
 
 
Independent Egyptian newspapers have published news detailing the latest development in the country's controversial political story in the country: who will succeed President Hosni Mubarak.
 
Much controversy has surrounded the 82 year old leader and his successor who is believed to bequeath power to his son Gamal, a 47 year old businessman despite denial
 
Circulating stories from NDP officials maintain that any news of a campaign in favour of the general describing him as "The real alternative" by his supporters could refuel speculation that the widespread rumours that there is in fact a power struggle within various wings of the ruling elite.
