ALGIERS, An Algerian ship loaded with aid for the besieged people of the Gaza Strip has arrived on Thursday at the Egyptian port of al-Areesh where the cargo will be unloaded and transported by land to the Gaza Strip.

An Algerian official media source quoted Ammar Talibi, the vice-chairman of the Muslim Scholars Association which is overseeing the aid ship in coordination with the Algerian Red Crescent, that the ship was loaded with 60 containers carrying medicine, medical equipment, food clothes and tents and that the weight of the cargo exceeded 1200 tons.

The ship also carries a field hospital which is equipped for paediatrics, maternity, an operating theatre and a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scanner.

Talibi also said that the type of aid provided was based on actual needs of the besieged Palestinians in Gaza and coordinated with Palestinian officials in the Gaza Strip.
