Grand Mufti calls on Muslim countries to resist occupation

The 37Th commemoration of Egypt’s victory over Israel was marked by Egypt’s Grand Mufti Ali Gomaa calling on Muslims to stand up to oppressive occupation and tyranny and to possess the power of deterrence.

Gomaa commended the 1973 war victory over Israel as a historical breaking point for Egypt’s military and a bright light in the history of the Islamic nation. The ceremony organized by the Ministry of Endowments was attended by distinguished ambassadors from Islamic countries. Gomaa asserted that the Islamic nation had the right to protect their country from enemies and from invasion .

Gomaa ascertained that Muslims should not stand by idly and abandon their land or to surrender to any occupying force.

Despite Egypt’s plan to build four nuclear power generating plants by 2025, the authorities have called for making the Middle East a nuclear arms free zone. Israel’s possession of nuclear weapons and stance against Iran’s determination to have nuclear reactors for military purposes has also been objected to by Egypt.
