The Muslim Brotherhood  offshoot the Islamic Action Front  in Jordan , blamed the government for their decision to boycott the elections and asserted  they could withdraw their position if authorities open dialogue on political reform issues including the possibility of amending the controversial Elections Law.

At a press conference held at their  headquarters, a joint statement was released regarding the group’s former decision to boycott the parliamentary elections. The statement outlined their demands if they were to participate in the elections.

The group’s secretary general Hamza Mansour, said that the movement called for electoral law amendments that would offer the Jordanians equal footing empowering an independent body to monitor the elections, such as judicial authority. The group maintained that enacting an election law representing the Jordanians true desires would be the start of the reform process.

Mansour accused the authorities of fabricating results of the 2007 elections asserting that the   movement no longer trusted the government’s management of the elections process.

The IAF leader Hamam Saeed claimed that the decision to boycott the elections however was not final, and the group was awaiting response from the government over their list of demands.
