UNRWA slams Israeli seizure of 9 houses in Old City, J’lem

The UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA) said that two of the families are refugee families registered with the agency.

It noted that UN crews provided immediate emergency assistance to the affected households, as part of its mandate to protect and assist refugees who were displaced in 1948, and part of support provided by the European Commission to intervene in times of crisis.

The agency has confirmed the importance of protecting these families “to enhance the relative stability in this volatile part of the West Bank”, noting that it will continue to provide social and guidance services.
