In a statement on Tuesday, the lawmakers said that the arrest of Fathiya Sweis, 57, and the prosecution of Sadi Ekhlil, a 12-year old child, is further evidence of Israel's racist policies and its violation of all international laws and conventions, especially, the fourth Geneva convention, which provides for the protection of women and children in unstable regions.

They underlined that Israel went too far in its violations against the Palestinians under the umbrella of the peace negotiations which gave it space to act without being punished or even curbed.

In a separate incident, a group of Hamas lawmakers visited on Monday Al-Farisiya area in the Jordan valley, north of the West Bank, to check on the humanitarian situation there after Israel demolished 65 shanties and tents inhabited by the impoverished farmers in the region.

The lawmakers stated that this Israeli action led to the displacement of 110 people living in the area for dozens of years, adding that Israel wants to seize their lands in order to expand nearby Nihola settlement.

In another context, first deputy speaker of the Palestinian legislative council (PLC) Dr. Ahmed Bahar received a letter from president of the Arab parliament Huda Bin Amer who briefed him on the efforts being made by the parliament to alleviate the suffering of Gaza people.

Bin Amer said the parliament formed a committee assigned to organize aid convoys from all Arab countries to the Gaza Strip, adding that this committee would work on stimulating Arab states to provide urgent humanitarian support for the besieged Gaza people.

She noted that the committee would organize the first convoy during the holy month of Ramadan as an incentive for the Arab countries to help Gaza
