IOA sources report Mubarak’s end sooner than expected

 An article published in the Arutz Sheva of the IOA, has claimed that  According to intelligence sources quoted by the Washington Times ‘Egyptian President Mubarak’s illness is more serious than previously predicted allowing that he may die within a year. Former reports had maintained that the 83 year old president was travelling to France and Germany for regular checkup however the Times has revealed that his condition is apparently worse than it seems. Although he has made numerous public appearances sources have claimed that he may have been drugged to appear alert. 

 
Despite Controversy regarding the survival of the 1979 peace treaty between Israel and Egypt , Martin Kramer, analyst and scholar at the Jerusalem-based Shalem Center told the Times that he thinks the peace treaty with Israel and Egypt would survive Hosni Mubarak’s death adding  ” Egypt has kept the peace deal with Israel through the wars with Lebanon and through intifadas”. 
Mubarak has run Egypt with a tight fist after imposing the ’emergency law’ since his assuming of power in 1981. Although the law had been in force to combat terrorism and drug trafficking it has been used by the regime to intimidate political opposition namely the Muslim Brotherhood’s leader and ranks. Many members have been arrested and indefinitely detained while others have been tried in Military tribunals despite being civilians.
 
Rumours have it that Mubarak has been grooming his son 47 year old Gamal to assume power however both Mubaraks have rejected the allegations. An emergence by former IAEA chief Dr. Mohamed ElBaradei onto the political scene has not been met lightly by the ruling regime especially with allegations that he may run for presidency. ElBaradei however has not claimed he will definitely run during the presidential elections especially as the regulations for candidacy are extremely restrictive. Consequently after numerous meetings with political opposition the Nobel Prize Laureate has collaborated with the largest and most popular political opposition the Muslim Brotherhood in their call for political modification and constitutional reform. Decades of repression have prompted the movement to launch an online petition outlining 7 demands on the group’s official website to collect signatures reaching 81, 000 12 days after its launching by the MB chairman Dr. Mohamed Badie.
 
According to the Economist a report has warned that Western interests will be in danger over security and energy if the countries do  not accomplish a smooth succession. Egypt ‘s closed political system and the worry that it may be turning into a dynastic mongering power has caused much concern, in the country, Arab world and the West.
