Resheq: UNSC resolution does not commensurate with the size of the "massacre"

DAMASCUS,  Ezzet Al-Resheq, a political bureau member of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), regarded the UN Security Council resolution on the Zionist massacre as weak and not at all in proportion to the size of Israel's crime against the Freedom Flotilla which carried humanitarian aid to Palestinians under siege.

The Security Council convened this morning to discuss the killing and wounding of dozens on board the "Freedom Flotilla" ships by Zionist occupation forces.  The Council described them as "acts of violence against civilians," without directly condemning the Zionist occupation

The Hamas official said in a statement to the Palestinian Information Center on Tuesday, that the resolution demonstrates the weakness and wavering integrity of the Security Council, and also reveals the truth about U.S. bias to the "Zionist entity".

Resheq condemned the U.S. administration's position which prevented the issuance of a presidential decree obliging Israel to break the siege.

On the other hand, he welcomed the position of Russia and the European Union to break the blockade and open border crossings to the Gaza Strip, and to ensure the Strip of unrestricted access to its needs.

Resheq appealed to Arab foreign ministers to make real resolutions in countering Israel's arrogance, and not to be satisfied with words of condemnation and outrage. He pointed out that what is needed is "an Arab resolution to cut off all forms of relations with the Zionist entity," and to "stop direct and indirect negotiations with the Zionist enemy," and to "hunt down the leaders of the Zionist enemy and bring them to the international war crimes courts."

The final statement of the Security Council after ten hours of continuing consultations was to prompt a full investigation into the attack on the "freedom fleet" through an independent, credible council in conformity with international standards of human rights and humanitarian law.

The Security Council rejected the draft resolution submitted by Turkey, which called for an independent investigation into the massacre or an investigation under the auspices of the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Ban Ki-moon.
