GAZA,  Spokesman for the Turkish IHH relief foundation Ziyad Al-Aloul called on the international community to move to end the Israeli threats to attack the Freedom Flotilla convoy and prevent it from reaching the besieged Gaza Strip.

In a press release on Wednesday, Aloul condemned the Israeli intent to attack more than 500 people from Turkey, Europe and Arab states as “state terrorism” and demanded the countries which sent their forces to fight piracy in the gulf of Aden to seriously confront any similar act targeting the security and safety of the participants in the aid convoy sailing in international waters.

He noted that the participants include European and Turkish lawmakers, diplomats, intellectuals, artists, journalists and human rights activists.

“It is time for the UN to move to put an end to Israel’s repeated attempts to violate international law and act as a state above the law,” the IHH spokesman stressed.

The convoy will set sail for Gaza on May 22, carrying on board tons of building materials, electric generators, medical appliances, medicines and food aid.

In the same context, the popular committee against the siege declared its intention to send 100 Palestinian boats off the coast of Gaza to receive the Freedom Flotilla convoy upon its arrival in cooperation with the government committee for breaking the siege and the Palestinian international campaign.

Head of the committee MP Jamal Al-Khudari said in a press release on Wednesday that there will boats for journalists and media outlets to cover the event.
