Egypt: 7 of El-Behira’s MBs Released

The state security prosecution released 7 Muslim Brotherhood (MB) detainees:

Ahmed Al-Qit
, Hani Al Baktoushi, Fekri Rahhal, Amr Masoura, Ayman Abul Arashin, Khaled Al Qamhawi, and Yasser Al-Hanash, after paying 500 Egyptian pounds bail .

The detainees appeared in front of the prosecution on Tuesday Feb., 6, 2007, while a protest vigil was held by hundreds of their relatives, including wives and children to condemn their detention without committing any offence or crime. The protesters lifted placards reading “where is my father?!”, “Release my father” and “Release detainees”, which attracted the attention of many passers-by who expressed their dissatisfaction with hunting the Muslim Brotherhood, while the regime is giving a blind eye to the thieves robbing the country.

The Muslim Brotherhood is the biggest opposition group whose parliamentarians claim fifth of the People’s Assembly seats and which is leading the opposition against the proposed constitutional amendments that will suppress freedoms and human rights.

It’s worth mentioning that the state security forces arrested 7 released persons on Wednesday Jan., 24, 2007, on charge of belonging to the Muslim Brotherhood group, amid an escalation campaign that the regime is adopting against the Muslim Brotherhood, leading to arresting hundreds of MB leaders and members, topped by Eng. Khairat Al Shater, the second deputy chairman of the group and Dr. Mohamed Ali Beshr, a member of the Executive Bureau and transferring nearly 40 of them to a military court.
